ABOUT THE SCULPTURE...

Jimmy Harwell sculpture is three-dimensional life form in welded steel or cast bronze. Each piece is hand sculpted and of original design. Often life-size and always mesmerizing, his technique allows him to work the metal as if it were clay. The resulting texture and look invite the viewer to touch and to watch: the roadrunner catching his prey, the egret fishing, the lizard as he climbs to his dinner.

Jimmy uses the lost wax method for his bronze pieces, which he casts himself. Exhibited at the Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, the annual Allied Artists Show in New York, and shows across Texas, Jimmy's work has been described as "arresting..." "sensual..." "impressionistic realism." Recent bronze subjects include traditional Vaqueros, a woman racing a horse, and a Golden Eagle for the city of Junction.
